In the framework of the project "zEROwASTERS - Innovative actions with citizens", implemented with the funding of the Green Fund, the Joint Undertaking Eco Active, in cooperation with the 2o EPAL Komotini and the Regional Directorate of Education of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, organizes the Eco Week 2025, a multi-thematic week dedicated to sustainability, the circular economy, green innovation and environmental education, from 7 to 11 April.
The activities of the week are mainly addressed to the student community of 2nd EPAL Komotini, enhancing young people's involvement in environmental responsibility, energy transition and green jobs.
Wednesday 9 April - Green Routes to School (11:00-13:00)
On Wednesday 9 April, at 11:00, in the auditorium of the 2nd EPAL, will be held the presentation of a study entitled "Green Routes: Transition for High School Students". Η Eleni Verani, Urban Planner - Transport Engineer, MSc, Lecturer, PhD, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, presents the travel habits of students and suggests alternative, ecological and safe ways to reach schools, based on data from questionnaires completed by students and parents.
On the same day, at 11:30, at the amphitheatre of the 2nd EPAL, will be held, in collaboration with the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, speech on the road safety and traffic education during the transition of students to school and beyond.
Speakers of the action are:
- Eleftherios Hamalidis, Head of the Directorate of Transport and Communications of Orestiada
- Stavroula Kyrtsidou, Head of the Directorate of Transport and Communications of Evros P.E.
It will follow experiential simulation with special glasses so that students understand the dangers of walking or driving under the influence of alcohol.
Eco Week 2025 is not just a week of actions. It is a collective step towards a sustainable tomorrow, a call to the younger generation to imagine, create and act responsibly for the environment.
