On 26 February, the students of the 2nd EPAL participated in a special tree planting at the Panthraki Stadium, enhancing a wellness and sports area and contributing to the environmental upgrading of the area.
The first pilot tree planting took place on 15 December 2024, which was an initiative of the Rodopi Runners together with the support of Eco Active. This action resulted in 350 small trees being planted by the children and their families, thus filling the perimeter of the Panthraki Stadium with greenery.
In this initiative, children had the opportunity to scan and adopt the trees, naming them and taking responsibility for their care.
After the enthusiasm that the first tree planting caused to our young friends, we had the opportunity to apply this program to the students of the 2nd EPAL Komotini, which has been running for the last 2 years the programme zEROwASTERs offering them a unique experience of active participation and ecological awareness.
This activity fosters empathy and responsibility in students as they experience the importance of caring for a living organism and understand the impact of their actions on the environment. At the same time, it encourages young people to take action to protect the planet and develop strong bonds with nature.
The Zerowasters of the 2nd EPAL prove once again that change can start with hands-on experience, knowledge and love for the environment.
With actions like this, young people become agents of change, cultivating a greener and more sustainable tomorrow for all of us.
The adoption platform was implemented under the project zEROwASTERs, which is financed by the Green Fund.
